How I Use a Bullet Journal as a Stay-At-Home Mom + Giveaway

Bullet Journal for a Stay-at-Home Mom

Productivity was, for me, one of the hardest things to grasp as a stay-at-home mom. When I transitioned into being a stay-at-home mom, there were days when I would feel lost thinking of what to do next. I know that the tasks that we have at home are never-ending and constantly repeating. But there are just days when I question myself and ask if I was really accomplishing something.

Are you like that, too? Or is it just me?

Well, essentially, as moms there is really no question if we are productive or not. Because, we really are. Right, mommas? But this becomes all the more difficult because I work from home.Β The border lines between work and home are muddled simply because both share the same space – my house. All I can really do is adjust and find ways to make this setup work.

This is where structures and routines come in handy. As I’ve mentioned in my other blog post, it is important to schedule everything (and also make room for adjustments).

And this is where planning, specifically in a bullet journal, came in very handy and efficient for me.

I actually started using the system two years ago. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s a system developed by Ryder Carroll to organize tasks, appointments, notes, etc. You can read more about it at www.bulletjournal.com. It really worked for me but after a year, I reverted back to using a Belle De Jour Planner because I wanted to try glam planning (think stickers, washi tapes and all that jazz). But I wasn’t able to keep up.

So this year, I’m going back to a bullet journal again.

Why I Opted for a Bullet Journal vs. a Regular Planner

A bullet journal is highly customizable.

Not every person is the same. And not every person has the same way of organizing things. And I think this is the main reason why I opted to use a bullet journal versus a regular planner.

A bullet journal helps me customize my planner according to what I really need. From relevant trackers, planning layouts, lists, etc., a bullet journal makes it easy for me to design my planner and make it more intentional.

You can use any notebook.

What’s great about a bullet journal system is that you can start using it in any notebook that you prefer. The only thing that you need to consider when purchasing a notebook for bullet journaling is durability since you will be constantly using it and bringing it wherever you go.

No more wasted pages.

A few years ago, I used to be obsessed with collecting Starbucks stickers just to get my free planner. I was always excited to get my hands on their planners but I never really got through the whole year using it. What a waste.

This is what I like about a bullet journal because you don’t need to worry about wasted pages. Each page of your planner has a specific purpose. And that purpose serves only you. Plus, gone are those marketing pages that you don’t really need.
